Back in 2005 I was taking auto body in college and the opportunity arose to take a custom painting coarse. I seized this chance quick. I love painting and art and I was not going to miss out on learning custom painting and airbrushing. This was my first time airbrushing and it was awesome! The coarse cost $150.00 dollars for college students and about $185.00 dollars for the public. It was well worth the money. The main focus was painting realistic flames. Everyone in the class painted real fire or blue flames on a panel they could take home after the class. When class was nearly over the company and sponsors of this event sold a lot of their products. It was mostly Sata equipment. Very expensive but some are very nice products. Me, I purchased some stencils and a Sata graph III airbrush. Those products were pricey yet I made my money back in my first project.
My first project was a Lincoln Mark III. The hood and fenders I real flamed. It took me 2 evenings for a few hours. less than 8 hours total. The customer loved the flames. It was fun painting and the experience paid off; Literally, I made over $500.00 u.s. dollars plus took home extra material $$$*Cha-Ching*$$$.
I have painted cars and done body work to make extra money however painting real fire I think is the easiest and most profitable. Air brushing is relaxing and very enjoyable. Airbrushing you can do on more than just cars trucks and motorcycles. In fact this last weekend I airbrushed flames on a barbecue and made another $200 bucks. For painting and airbrushing supplies and services prices vary a lot. Even though this is true through trial and error I’ve learned what tools and techniques you really need! Here is what I spent to get started.
